KAMAWANU, a company that specializes in making “tenugui” (traditional Japanese hand towels), has launched a new international brand of tenugui and scarves, BY KAMAWANU. With patterns based on original designs, TENUGUI BY KAMAWANU hand towels showcase a timeless Japanese sensibility. Meanwhile, SCARF BY KAMAWANU takes the ancient Japanese approach to graphic design and evolves the technology of tenugui to create a new kind of fashion accessory. Using the traditional Japanese hand-dye staining method known as “chuusen”, the fabric has no predefined front and back side, making these distinctly Japanese items reversible, too.
手ぬぐい専門店「かまわぬ」が新しく立ち上げた、手ぬぐいとスカーフを展開するインターナショナルブランド「BY KAMAWANU」。「TENUGUI BY KAMAWANU」ではオリジナルデザインより柄を選定して、タイムレスな日本の感性を発信。「SCARF BY KAMAWANU」は、日本古来の柄をグラフィカルなデザインに発展させ、手ぬぐいの技術をファッションアイテムとして進化させました。「注染」という日本の伝統的な手染めの染色法により、生地の表と裏がなく、リバーシブルで使える日本発のプロダクトです。
