JAPAN TRADITIONAL CRAFTS AOYAMA SQUARE exhibits and sells over a hundred kinds of selective traditional crafts such as ceramics, lacquered wares, woven textiles, Japanese washi papers and more. These traditional crafts are made by specially trained artisans using traditional techniques that are over a century old. All the products showcased are something that Japanese people use in their daily lives, including items that have kept its designs from the olden days and ones that have been re-designed to fit contemporary lifestyles. The artisans demonstrate their skills in front of guests here regularly.
陶磁器や漆器、織物、和紙など、全国の100種類以上の「伝統的工芸品」が、常時1,000点以上展示・販売されています。伝統的工芸品とは、熟練した職人の手作業によってつくられ、昔からの技術を100年以上受け継いでいるもの。どれも日常の暮らしの中で使われているものばかりです。お店には、古来の姿をそのまま残したものから、新しいデザインを取り入れたものまで幅広く取り揃えており、匠の技を間近で見ることができる制作実演を定期的に実施しています。
